Introduction to the exhibition “Evolution of Balance
The balance on a unicycle:
Finding the center, constantly pedaling, understand how to divide your body equally on the bike in your movements then we are about to start rolling!!
Me as an unicyclist riding my bike 21 years,
Hello I’m Galina Ryom-Røjbek.
4 years old and I see the unicycle for first time, at a circus show in Denmark with my family, the talk on the backseat home after was only about this ‘one-wheel’ bike & that I wanted to ride it tomorrow. I learned riding it in 2 weeks between a setup with our outdoor furniture’s in the backyard in South Zealand where I grew up, where I also build up the unicycle club (FLUCK) which are donating some of these bikes you will see at the exhibition.
I was participating for first time at the unicycle world championship (UNICON) in 2004 Switzerland and brought some gold medals home from various disciplines. Many years riding, many championships and competitions attend and won, previous manager of the Danish Freestyle team (DFT), Freestyle developer for MAD4ONE (one of the biggest producer of unicycles and sponsor Teams in the world).
Starting in 1980, Jack Halpern (Japan) visited other unicycling countries and put together a proposal for the establishment of an international unicycling federation (IUF). In 1982, the IUF incorporated itself, with a small list of representatives from a few countries. But who would dare take the boldest step of hosting the first international convention? After the 1983 Unicycling Society of America (USA) National Unicycle Meet in Syracuse, NY, that decision was made. There was unicyclists from 9 countries at that NUM, and it seemed like the time was ripe. JeanPaul Jenack, son of USA Bill Jenack, promoted the idea among the people he knew could make it work. Principal organizers were JeanPaul Jenack, Meryl Schaffer, Al Hemminger, and host Ken Fuchs.
UNICON I, 1984 Syracuse, New York, USA.
Competing at championships
UNICON is the bi-annual unicycling world championships. This major event covers all facets of unicycling. Along with competitions in the IUF unicycle disciplines.
I was participating for first time at the unicycle world championship (UNICON) in 2004 Switzerland and brought some gold medals home from various disciplines. Many years riding, many championships and competitions attend and won. Latest participating at UNICON XVII, 2014 Montreal, Canada I won 2 gold medals participating in only 2 disciplines and mainly judging disciplines and supporting the Danish Freestyle Team as a National manager of the Freestyle sport in Denmark.
Downhill mountain unicycling Muni
Rushing down an off road trail is what Mountain Unicycling (Muni) is all about. Riders ride quickly down mountains or maneuver carefully through rocky terrain. Muni can be done on a variety of terrain ranging from fire roads to technical single track.
Muni Downhill is one of my favorite’s disciplines to ride, I took many medals at competitions at this discipline, I also broke a leg once during UNICON XVI, 2012 Brixen, Italy.

In our showroom there is a bike, a road, the white line to keep you on track, hold on to the rib at the wall and then it’s your game to find the balance, control the bike and ride.
